What is it?:

Rehmania Six (Liu Wei Di Huang Tang) Herbal Tincture is the classical formula in Chinese Medicine for nourishing the yin of the Kidney and Liver.  It is often used to address menopause, fatigue, menstrual irregularities, and insomnia.

Its applicability, however, is far broader than simply helping regulate women’s health concerns. Kidney and Liver Yin deficiency is a very common pattern of imbalance in the hustle culture of the West, and this formula has a very broad applicability to address what one might call "signs of aging"-- lower back pain, sore knees, night sweats, insomnia, etc...

What is it good for:

  • Fatigue/tiredness
  • Weak or sore knees
  • Lower back pain or weakness
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ear), dizziness & vertigo)
  • Many other symptoms related to aging

    Traditional Chinese medicine benefits:

    • Nourishes Kidney and Liver Yin/Blood

What else you might like to know:

This formula nourishes yin. In TCM theory, yin is an actual substance-- it is the cooling, nourishing fluids that circulate and permeate the body. As yin slowly dries up due to overwork and the aging process, the body slowly heats up over time... think of a radiator in a car running low-- if there is not enough coolant in the system, the engine overheats. It's not a perfect analogy, but it gives an idea of what is happening in the body during yin defiency.

Also-- Chinese herbs work differently from Western drugs – they help clear the root of the problem, and this formula is a perfect example of that principle in action. In other words, the herbs don't "cure" anything; rather, they slowly restore balance over a period of weeks or months (in conjunction w/other factors like sleep and diet). So, for example, if you take a pain reliever for lower back pain or soreness behind the knees, the symptom of pain might be blocked for a short period of time, but the fundamental imbalance at the root of the pain (i.e. yin deficiency) remains unaffected and the problem then becomes experienced  as "chronic".
