What is it?:

Cold and Flu Formula (Gan Mao Ling) Herbal Tincture is a modern Chinese Herbal Medicine formula recommended for those with body stress associated with the common cold and the flu. Take it as soon as you feel the first signs of a cold or flu coming on — a scratchy throat, feeling cold, sensitivity to wind, runny nose with clear phlegm, etc… Take it immediately and often and it can help to reduce the symptoms and shorten the length of your cold!

What is it good for:

  • Early stage cold & flu (fever. fever alternating w/chills, headache, body aches, sore throat, etc...)
  • Helps get over a cold or flu faster (as long as it has not set in as, for example, an upper respiratory infection, bronchitis, sinus infection, etc...)

Traditional Chinese medicine benefits:

  • clears heat-toxins
  • release exterior (see note below)

What else you might like to know:

If you are taking this formula at the very, very first sign of symptoms (or if the symptoms are severe and coming on fast), it is safe and appropriate to take an "augmented serving" for the 24-48 hours to try and knock out the cold before it sets in. An augmenting serving means that you dissolve 1-2 droppers (1/2 tsp.) in warm water or juice (just like "regular"), but take that every few hours until the symptoms seem to be getting better. Only do this augmented serving for the first 24-48 hours from the onset of symptoms; after that, switch to the regular serving or change formulas.

Practitioner note: Gan Mao Ling is approximately 75% clear heat and toxins and only about 25% release exterior (as compared to Yin Qiao which is mostly RE with some clear heat-toxin components to it). This makes Gan Mao Ling appropriate for wind-cold as well as wind-heat, and it also means that it will still be effective beyond 24-48 hours of the onset of symptoms.

Ingredients: Ilex Asprella root (Gang Mei Gen), Evodia Lepta root (San Cha Ku), Chrysanthemum flower (Ju hua), Vitex Negundo herb (Wu Zhi Gan; alt name Huang Jing Cao), Isatis root (Ban lan gen), Lonicera flower (Jin yin hua), Menthol crystals (solid constiuents of mint oil) (Bo He Nao)
