What is it?:

Zi Su Ye (Perilla Leaf) is a very common additive to Chinese Medicine formulas that deal with chest congestion (from excess buildup of phlegm), persistent cough, and nausea & vomiting.

It is also used in TCM to regulate qi during pregnancy to treat morning sickness and calm the fetus.

Additionally, it is also used by itself (or with fresh ginger (Sheng jiang)) to treat seafood poisoning.
