The Two Natural Remedies You Need to Know to Lower Blood Sugar
Share
So you've been dieting and exercising regularly, and now are curious about natural ways to bring down blood sugar besides prescribed medication. It’s very important that you learn all you can about your disease and the treatment options available to you—because you do have options for Type 2 Diabetes.
Although prescribed diabetes medications may be effective in lowering blood sugar, most are no more than a temporary solution. Type 2 Diabetes medications lower glucose levels but do nothing to address the fundamental condition. Plus, they have serious side effects and can be dangerous.
If you haven’t heard about the Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) study, it's time to be awoken, because it sums up nicely just how dangerous many blood sugar–lowering diabetes medications are.
This large, government-funded trial was designed to prove the effectiveness of various medication regimens for reducing heart attacks, stroke and death from heart disease in patients with type 2 diabetes. One arm of the study was specifically set up to test the widely held assumption that more intensive lowering of blood sugar would provide greater protection against heart disease.
However, in February 2008, that arm of ACCORD was quietly and suddenly shut down because it found just the opposite was true. Study participants who were on the most aggressive drug regimens aimed at driving down blood sugar had a much higher cardiovascular death rate.
It's clear that prescribed medication is not always the best solution. Are there safe, natural solutions out there that you should consider for Type 2 Diabetes? Absolutely, and recent exhaustive studies in the US reveal they may be more effective than medication.
Natural Remedies for Type 2 Diabetes According to Science
1. Coptis extract (called Huang Lian in Chinese)
In 2015, the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health published a journal that provided scientific evidence about the effective components, pharmacological researches, toxicity, and the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on effectiveness and safety of Huang Lian. In multiple studies, it was demonstrated that Coptis extract could effectively treat Type 2 Diabetes possibly via modulating the composition of gut microbiota (enrichment of beneficial microbiota and inhibition of harmful microbiota). In addition, almost all of the researches show Coptis extract contains various active components that could provide multiple therapeutic effects. Coptis extract has antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties and protect against diabetes, heart disease, and some forms of cancer very well.
2. Pure Gynostemma Pentaphyllum Tea
In a study by the National Institute of Health, drinking Gynostemma tea showed a prompt improvement of glycemia and insulin sensitivity, and thereby provides a basis for a novel, effective, and safe approach, using Gynostemma pentaphyllum tea, to treat type 2 diabetic patients. Change in insulin resistance after 12-weeks of driving Gynostemma tea daily indicated that insulin resistance decreased significantly in the Gynostemma pentaphyllum group (-2.1+/-3.0) compared with that (+1.1+/-3.3) in the control group (p<0.05). There were no hypoglycemias, or adverse effects regarding kidney and liver parameters or gastrointestinal function. In addition, lipid profiles, glucagon, cortisol levels, body measurements, and blood pressure were not different between the groups.
Conclusion
Doctors with decades of experience working with patients who have type 2 diabetes have agreed drugs are not the best solution. Diabetes is one of the fast growing lifestyle disorder that can be effectively managed with few lifestyle modifications and eating a healthy diet. If you can heal your body naturally and safely, the most successful diabetes treatment plan is a natural one.
