What is it?:
Generate the Pulse Decoction (Sheng Mai Tang) is our variation of a a classical TCM formula (originating in the 12th century) which addresses a wide variety of complaints that have in common a weak and/or erratic pulse (see list below for examples of specific applications).
It can also be thought of as a recovery-type formula. For example, it is appropriately used after the acute phase of an illness to aid recovery or as an adjunct therapy (e.g. ameliorating certain side effects of chemotherapy drugs, for dry cough due to AIDS, etc.). It can also be thought of as a gentle tonic formula to help the elderly and those deficient of qi and yin.
Discontinue use of this formula during colds & flu; also, do not use this formula if the person has a fever.
What is it good for:
- Arrhythmia & heart palpitations
- Chronic dry cough due to asthma and chronic bronchitis (specifically contraindicated during in the acute phase of infection)
- Chronic dry cough from environmental factors (e.g. smoking, poor air quality, etc...)
- chemotherapy support
- cardiovascular disease, congestive heart failure, hypotension/dizziness due to low blood pressure
- support during the recovery phase of myocardial infarction & bypass surgery

It is important to understand that herbs work by restoring balance to the body. This means that you usually have to take an herb or a formula for a longer period of time than you would with pharmaceuticals in order to get results-- usually at least a month, and often times longer than that... it all depends on the individual and the nature of the ailment being addressed.
