What is it?:
Mother of Pearl (Zhen Zhu Mu) is the iridescent layer of the mollusk shell—otherwise known as mother of pearl or nacre. It has a sinking nature, and in terms of TCM it is said to "calm the Liver" and to "anchor rising Liver yang". In practical terms, this means that Zhen zhu mu can be used for a number of applications:
- addresses dizziness, headaches, vertigo, tinnitus, irritability, insomnia (w/frequent/intense dreaming), and palpitations.
- brightens the eyes to address visual impairment; this may present clinically as dizziness, blurred vision, might blindness, photophobia, redness, swelling, burning, and pain in the eyes.
- this substance promotes the healing of the skin (e.g. in cases of burns or eczema) and also is a common ingredient in Chinese Medicine recipes that are meant to nourish and beautify the skin.

Directions for use:
Shake Well before each use.
Maintenance Serving: Dissolve 1-2 droppers (1/2 tsp.) in warm water or juice 2-3 times daily.
Augmented Serving: Take 1 full tsp. 2 to 3 times daily in warm water or juice or as directed by a qualified herbalist familiar with the use of Chinese herbs and formulas.
